ROBBIE RIVERA - DO YOU WANT MORE (ULTRA) |
| |

While the Miami local has rooted his sound in house music, his latest release has him veering off a bit more into a more pop-oriented direction. In the past few years, Rivera has been receiving a lot of attention from clubbers and the media alike with nominations for Best Breakthrough DJ and the Best Producer at Dancestar Awards, not to mention being selected as the Best House Music Remixer by Remix Magazine. Do You Want More is a great album overall with music that is sure to get people dancing. For those who enjoy addictive vocal hooks try "Float Away" and "All About You." If a vibrant ragga vibe is more your forte, then try the title track "Do You Want More?" and "Uptown Girls (Ragga Mix)" for an electrifying dancehall groove. "Which Way You Going?" has been the track that seems to best sum up the tone of the whole album with a driving beat for the house-heads and a solid vocal for the pop crowds and was a Billboard Club Play chart topper and featured a remix by Wally Lopez as a single. Unfortunately, with the good comes the bad (well, not so bad…just a little dull), "Hometown" and "The Drive." Yet, Rivera makes his last stand to leave you wanting more with his own Robbie Rivera presents Keylime "Girlfriend," possibly the best track on the disc. One way or another, Robbie Rivera will get your ass moving and definitely leave you wanting more. -- review by Shawn Wallace
