OM LOUNGE 10 (OM)

Another in a fine line of near-historic collections featuring eclectic beats and downtempo dance tracks, perfectly programmed from beginning to end, Volume 10 starts with a mildly up-tempo (118 bpm) anthem called "Rise" by Samantha James. Undoubtedly, this will become another brings-tears-to-your-eyes classic from the OM camp. Perfectly situated throughout this nearly perfect release are the other standout tracks; "Chopsticks" by the indelible J Boogie's Dubtronic Science (track #7) with its choppy broken beats that hit like karate, beautiful flute breaks, and a "Kung Fu"-era-David-Caradine-cool bass line all over it, along with JT Donaldson's incredible "New Tempo" (track #12). These are peppered alongside hot and spicy other tracks, such as the trippy "No More Sand In My Lipbalm" by Moqita, and the infectious "Anything You Say" by Michelle Sparrow, bringing a touch of summer to the living room floor in the middle of winter. Catchy and danceable, it, just like the right spice, can bring out the aromas and flavors of those around it in a dish. The sweet, lush keys and chocolate-y funky bass line of Hideo Kobayashi's "Almost There" brings me to the point, and ends the disc brilliantly, making me beg like a lover in bed not to stop. Once again, the fellas at OM have brought us a collection perfect for sparking one up, or just plain getting down. Either way, its gonna go down smooth. -- review by Carl Noone Jr.
