BASS HIT - PRESSURIZED (NEURODISC)

"Pressurized," from top-selling artist Bass Hit, kicks off with the unrelenting pounding of "Breakbeat Science," a solid, energetic and addictive pummeling of high energy, loud techno propulsion ... plenty of acid here. "Get on the Floor" starts with deceptive subtleness before slamming with some more unapologetic hard-hittingness. "Raise the Bass" is perhaps less crushing but still full of vigor, a nice piece of techno pulse. Get on the "M25 Motorway" if you'd like a high adrenaline acid injection and stay on for "Hit the Breaks" if you want to follow-up with a groove-running beat laced with high potency infectiousness. "Techno Bass '95" kicks off with some lush melodies and plunges into a progressive rush of melodic drive. Busy beats, buzzing texture and hints at dubbishness pushed to pace up manifest on "Speed of Sound." "Trax on Wax" backs off the slamming of earlier tracks but weaves its electronic melodies and beats together nicely nonetheless. "Sixty-Four" commences with video-gameyness and crafts an Atari meets dub union. "India Bass" boasts a wash of gentle melodies and exotic vocal samples. "Spindizzy" is acidtrippy and uses injects acid melodies into spartan surroundings for effect. At last we reach "The Gospel of Bass," album closer, which gives us a ride that is dancey but also laid back and chilled. "Pressurized" is a competent batch of bass compositions that has an overall flow from start to finish, crafted from a fairly varied list of tracks.-- review by Kristofer Upjohn
