Voom Voom - a coming together of Peter Kruder,
Christian Prommer and Roland Appel - rolls out with
"Baby," released previously on an EP, which slow
builds from ambient tones and textures, skittering
light drum lines, etc., into a moving big and lush but
spacious dance number with feel-good grooves. "Roger"
brings on the eclecticism with its retrofunk
electronic robotyness. "Bounce" hits with
industrial-tinged electro darkgroove texturized
dancehall infectiousness. Minimalist quirk fuels "All
I Need" until it hits some aggro-electronic layers
that really kick in. "Keep the Drums Out" shakes it
hard and clanky while "Logan" continues in a similar
vein with some buzz and obliquely glitchish melody
added. "Best Friend" is an album highlight with its
coolhot grooves, chilled retro 70s taste, oooohhh
yeah. "Sao Verought" mixes etherea with tasty textured
beats and ambience meets house on the gorgeous "Oggi."
"Urwald Song" segues into spooky experimental
territory, a terrific number. "Vampir Song" conjures
the weeping strains of heaven itself in a building
ethereal-to-driven progression from ambience to dance.
Voom Voom has put together a really impressive and
mixed up (as in eclectic, a word I use too often) set
of tunes that cover a variety of styles, all with
