LA PERLA - NOIR (MILAN) |
| |

Now here's a cool drink that goes down your throat real smooth. La Perla deftly presents, broadly speaking, the smooth jazz genre with class and appeal in a sound that happily marries electronically induced bossa nova flavors and soft jazz stylings. Sultry, sexy and striking, these tunes flow so seamlessly you can just kick back and float on your back in the pool, so to speak, for the duration of the CD's running time. The music of "Noir" also points heavily toward Euro tastes and brings sharply to mind the mien of that continent. There's something exotic and intimate about La Perla's work here and yet also light and playful. The music is alive with melodies, almost as though it's the oudio manifestation of the personality of some mythological sprite - who lives in Europe and likes jazz and romance. Listeners will find this an airy, attractive introduction into simple, absorbing pleasure.-- review by Kristofer Upjohn
