AMETHYSTIUM - EMBLEM (NEURODISC)

Here it is, folks. For those of you who, like me, have been watching the presence of Amethystium grow and grow upon the electronic scene, this hand-picked selection of tracks from the chillout artist's repertoire (including a re-recording and an unreleased!) is a beautiful summation of the band's history so far as well as the creation of a new context for the songs within. The stated goal was to create a sort of story via music. In a way, each of the previous albums has been such a thing and it's interesting to see the artist take some of his children and rearrange them, creating a sort of overview story looking back over previous releases. It also stands as a fresh being since the release date, etc., etc., played no part in determining the putting together of these tracks. What the listener gets is a batch of artist favorites put together in new combinations. Of course, you get here what you always get from Amethystium - warm, absorbing and ever-impressive chillout.-- review by Kristofer Upjohn
