STANTON WARRIORS - FABRIC LIVE 30 (FABRIC LONDON)

The Stanton Warriors turn out a decent batch of dance tracks on their contribution to the Fabric Live series. With a dash of electro ( Kerri Chandler’s "Planet Sonic") and gobs of sexy hip-hop, thick but not too dense mixing, high energy beats (Peace Division’s house track ‘Club Therapy’) and enveloping textures, "Fabric Live 30" is an awfully good mix of tracks, even if it falls short of greatness. It certainly sets itself up above the level of many of its peers, tossing in more variety than you'd expect from your run of the mill, impulse buy in the techno bin house CD. Even if it doesn't immediately grab you, you'll catch your body moving to the groove before too long. It's a fairly strong set, though its groove pulses in the back of your mind and isn't as in the foreground of your consciousness as a really great dance CD would be. However, they can't all be home runs. The Stanton Warriors have shown they know how to manipulate the turntables and make music that can keep a dance floor busy. -- review by Kristofer Upjohn
