Pay attention. Rarely do CDs get this good. There's a lot of slag glutting the electronica market but the Putumayo Grooves label is the cure for that. Grounding its compelling electronic dance grooves in wholesome, organic flavors, Putumayo offers up music that is well-rounded, full-bodied and oh so delicious. The Czech Republic, Hungary, Germany, Netherlands, Israel, Uzbekistan, Slovenia and even the USA contribute to the tracks on this disc, rooted in Gypsy culture (obviously, if you've paid attention to the title). Dance floor grooves fuse wonderfully with world music elements that are both quaint and edgy. The world instruments and enveloping vocal techniques on display here provide so much texture for the dance elements to spill out of. The listener is enraptured in bliss, a perfect coming together of earthy, classic influences and the cutting edge of dance. You cannot go wrong with this. -- review by Kristofer Upjohn
