Steinski is most definitely a singular talent. One could consider his musical endeavors as represented here as sort of a found-art object motif carried out in the aural realm. Taking snippets of our popular culture and lacing them together with masterful editing and mixing and with an impeccable sense of groove, Steinski's admittedly underground efforts have earned him, over the years, some fairly mad respect. I think what Steinski does is more understood and accepted now than when he first began his art of manipulating audio samples and crafting dance and hip-hop flavors with fine-tuned grooves by playing mix-and-match with whatever samples catch his ear. The result is music that will catch your ear too. Here's a chance to find out what an indie legend has been doing with himself all these years.
