QUIVVER - DIRTY NAILS AND VAPOUR TRAILS (BOZ BOZ RECORDINGS) |
| |

Strange yet familiar and accessible, "Dirty Nails and Vapour Trails" is such a merging that one might as well give up trying to categorize. One can analyze and speak of what one detects, but past that, what's to say? Pray your local record store doesn't have its electronica divided into subcategories, because when this CD comes in, the employees will be too confused trying to decide where to put it - they'll be too distracted to help you find it. They won't know where it is! Which isn't saying this is a confusing CD. Not one whit. This is praise being heaped. Listen. What do you hear? Lots of ambiance, but it's got a pulse. That atmosphere is wrapped around some tasty breakbeat. Pop factors in, too. Some minimalist house? Maybe new wave dollops, too? Well, keep genre counting, it doesn't matter. You can absorb this. You can dance. Revel. Enjoy.-- review by Kristofer Upjohn
