JOHN TEJADA - FABRIC 44 (FABRIC) |
| |

I love brilliance. I love the Fabric label. These two loves intersect. Rarely am I disappointed by a Fabric release. Granted, it took a while for the whole house scene to grow on me and, by God, Fabric had a lot to do with that. Here we are with Fabric 44, from John Tejada, and this not one of those rare moments of disappointment. This is another spot of Fabric brilliance. Fabric was smart enough to enlist John Tejada and he is brilliant enough to pick great tracks and mix them into a delirium-inducing pulsation of musical verve. Classic housey touches share style space with blippy, trippy puter future sounds. All the rhythmic bits and pieces are carefully laid atop each other so that bloodthirsty hooks come for your jugular in a paradoxically cyberdark perky expression that rolls forward like a computer/carbon techflesh virus hybrid that won't be stopped by any firewalls - and that includes your MUSIC I LIKE/MUSIC I DON'T LIKE filter. It's getting through. Trust me. -- review by Kristofer Upjohn
