STAR 69 - EXTENDED MIXES VOL. 5 (STAR 69)

Bust out the loincloth and war paint, we're about to get straight-up tribal in here! STAR 69's EXTENDED MIXES VOL. 5 is absolutely primal and raw, with savage drums and hypnotic loops. Arousing our ancient rhythmic instincts, the dark and brooding percussion of EXTENDED MIXES' nine remixed previous hits is sending tribal house all the way back to the cave. With less melody, chord change, and vocals to fill the mid-range, these tracks feature syncopated beats and big/loud drum lines, producing deep, sexy, animalistic grooves and emotions. Towards the middle of the album, some songs have a more hard-house/trance sound, with heavy synths, drum roll build-ups, crescendos, and vocals. Two different remixes of Sizequeen's "Tribal Madness" are the album's bookends, in between is "Mind Games" by William Umana, "I Like It" by Decibel featuring La Veetra, Airmale's "Love Me", "Heartattack" by Jahkey B. featuring Satta, Eday's "I'm Addicted", "Luv 2 Luv" by Suzanne Palmer, and "Searching" by Offer Nissim. No need to drive out to the desert, just have your friends over and pop-in STAR 69's EXTENDED MIXES VOL. 5 for your own global gathering. If you have no friends, turn on National Geographic - in any case, forget your usual modest side-to-side dance stepping, EXTENDED MIXES ignites the wild abandoned dancer within you so let the primal rhythm transport you and just get tribal with it. www.star69records.com-- review by ursula
