NOISIA "FABRICLIVE 40" (FABRIC) |
| |

FREAKING MASSIVE! I'm so used to hearing top grade house boom out of my speakers when I pop a Fabric disc in that I was floored with gratitude and hypnosis when drum-n-bass came barreling at me! And this DnB is every bit as heady as the fabulous, edgy house Fabric delivers from release to release. Big and dark with captivating snare lines and rolling bass melodies, this thumps and skitters, pounding its way into the best of your graces with a skywide sound (massive I tell you!), focused energy, thick beats but with lots of space to move around in, impeccable production ... I'm just raving and raving and raving about this release! (What better to do when the topic is dance music, right? ... HA HA HA HA HA ... I'm delirious, do you see what this has done to me?) And then, the mondo left turn Noisia pulls a ways into this. That house I was expecting? WHAM-KA-BAM! A startling genre side-step lands us into a string of house music that's as mammoth as the DnB. That craving satisfied, we're thrust back into the DnB mold (though there's no mold here, Noisia marches to the tune of its own drum-and-bass) for the duration of the album. And speaking of duration, this CD is over way too soon, even after 29 tracks. -- review by Kristofer Upjohn
