HEIMATAERDE - GOTTESKRIEGER (METROPOLIS)

This is interesting audio. Talk about eclectic. A creative blend of dark and light, industrial with trance influences, abrasive and smooth. For example, "Die Offenbarung" is a fast pulsing push of electro-industrial bulleting with tight, rolling beats and strange instrumentation mingled in that calls to mind ancient Ireland or somesuch. Or take "Endios," which starts out sounding like massive, highly textured heavy trance before smoothly converting (with no bumps) into a closely related distortion-painted electro-industrial driving beneath the less-than-smooth Teutonic vocals. "Moerder" brought me joy by sampling Bruce Campbell from one of the Evil Dead movies in the dark, thick beated but melody conscious ominous industrial proceedings. "Wiedergaenger" fuses crisp, elongated synth lines with the aforementioned vocals and features beats similar to what has come before but somehow more reserved. Metropolis‚ press calls this harsh industrial but melody rarely fails to shine through said harshness like the sun behind clouds. Even if it is pretty gothy, shadowy melodies. Not bad at all.-- review by Kristofer Upjohn
