Legendary London DJ Seb Fontaine didn't just get his start due to clubbing and the love of music. For him, becoming a DJ was literally in his genes. He was destined from the very start, begining with the fact that he was concieved on the infamous party island of Ibiza, Spain. It's a coincidence not to be ignored, as fate would eventually show.

While tearing up the LA nightclub scene, he was gracious enough to take time from his non-stop party schedule to sit down with us atop the Sofitel Hotel in posh Beverly Hills to discuss his life, his kids, and his future in music. Click here for our exclusive video interview:

SEB FONTAINE OFFICIAL BIO

b. London, England. Fontaine is one of the UK's leading house DJs. Initially, Fontaine was interested in rare groove and hip-hop and would skip school in order to practise his mixing skills. While at Richmond College and Kingston Polytechnic in London, he would play warm up sets for DJs such as Norman Jay and Jeremy Healy (ex-Haysi Fantayzee) at clubs such as The Fridge, The Wag and Subterrania. His distinctive brand of funky hard house led to bookings at Deluxe in Nottingham and the seminal "Back To Basics" night in Leeds.

The DJ's style was also influenced by a visit to Ibiza in 1994. Fontaine established a higher profile running his own very successful night, "Malibu Stacey" (the name of Barbie-type dolls in the US television cartoon show, The Simpsons) at London's Hanover Grand, which ran from November 1994 until July 1998. The club became renowned for its good-looking, well-dressed crowd (derided by some as "Glam House") and thumping house, played by DJs such as Mark Moore (ex-S'Express), Boy George and Dave Seaman. He has DJed all over the world, including Brazil, the USA and in Hong Kong for the hand over party in 1997, and regularly plays at clubs during the summer clubbing season in Ibiza.

In January 1999, he succeeded Paul Oakenfold in taking the prestigious position of resident DJ in the Annexe of Liverpool's Cream, staying at the club for three years. He has also been a regular guest DJ at clubs such as Gatecrasher, Golden, Godskitchen and The Gallery, and runs Type, his own fortnightly evening at The Cross in London. He presented a radio show on London's Kiss 100 with close friend and colleague, Tall Paul before making the transition to prime time with his own show on Radio 1.

Fontaine has been producing and remixing tracks since 1990 and releases his own material under the moniker Itchy and Scratchy (another reference to The Simpsons). Fontaine set up his own label, Spot On Records in 1991 with Jules Vern (of Stretch And Vern), with whom he also records. He has also mixed 10 compilations, including those for the label Sound Dimension and the clubs Ministry Of Sound and Cream. In 1999, the DJ was signed by the Boxed label to mix three compilation albums under their Global Underground banner. The first launched their Prototype series and demonstrated Fontaine's growing fondness for well-produced, thumping house and melodic, crowd-pleasing trance.
