| Brandon Block, more commonly known as 'Blocko' has become a legend in his own
right in clubland. As the Infamous DJ'ing partner of Alex P he has become one
of the leading names on the House scene. His DJ'ing style ranges from the funkier
end of House to peak time Trance and is tailor made for most modern day club
crowds.
Brandon started off in the late 80's playing at pubs and clubs in West London,
where he was born and raised. This lead to residencies in some of London's bigger
clubs and eventually with the commercial boom of House to national success.
Much of Brandon's success has been built on his summer residencies on the island
of Ibiza. Since the early 90's he and Alex P have been mainstays of the islands
summer clubbing season with residencies and guest appearances at all the main
clubs around the island. In the UK he is now resident at Watford's new Area
nightclub, as well as playing guest set's at all of the country's best known
clubs including Cream, Gatecrasher, Gallery and Passion.
In
recent times Brandon and Alex have gained their own P-Z and Blocko radio show
on London's Kiss 100 FM. Hosting the early evening show on Friday's they now
have a chance to bring upfront music to the masses.
Brandon has also been busy on the production front in the past year and shot
straight into the UK charts with Blockster's "You Should Be", while the follow-up
"Grooveline" was a successful underground hit with it's Matt Darey remix.
Chart success lead to an invite to this year's Brit Awards which amazingly
saw Brandon up on stage to collect an award. Unfortunately in a rather drunken
state he was wrongly convinced that he had won an award and went up to make
his speech, only to be told to piss off by Rolling Stones member Ronnie Wood.
Lets just say Brandon didn't take this too well and certainly made it a memorable
Brit Awards for many people!
As House becomes more and more popular throughout Europe and the UK we can
hope to see plenty more success in 2000 for the Blockster, and to cap it all
Brandon lives about 1 mile away from me in North-West London (small world!).
